Thermal Spraying Powder
CAPTAL® is a high purity synthetic hydroxylapatite having
a very similar composition to that of the mineral content in
human bone. It is thermally stable at 1300'C in air; retaining
a highly crystalline structure.
CAPTAL® thermal spray grade powders have been used to
coat over 100,000 orthopaedic devices for use in humans.
CAPTAL® hydroxylapatite has been shown to be highly biocompatible
in both animal and human clinical evaluations (see bibliography)
and scientifically characterised by BRITE EURAM PROGRAMME, Project
BREU 0172 C.
CAPTAL® hydroxylapatite powders are available in the following
particle size ranges.
